What you see here is a Remington 700 SPS Tactical rifle. Here are the specifications of this rifle in stock form:

  • Chambered in .308win

  • 20" heavy barrel

  • 1:10 twist rate barrel

  • X-Mark Pro Adjustable Trigger system (3.5lbs stock with 2lbs of adjustment)

  • Hogue overmolded stock

  • Pillar bedded stock for accuracy

  • Durable satin black oxide metal finish

  • Hinged floorplate magazine

This rifle is a very capable package right out of the box. With that being said, I am going to make it an even better rifle for precision applications. The first two additions on the list are:

  1. Have the barrel threaded to 5/8-24 to accept muzzle breaks

  2. Install a 20MOA rail for the scope

Before I get ahead of myself and start building this rifle, the first thing I need to do is perform the pre-firing cleaning to ensure the barrel is clean of maching debris and factory oil.

  1. Safety first, ensure the rifle is clear and safe.

  2. Remove the factory oils that keep parts from rusting.

  3. Clean the rifle to make sure any metal shavings have been removed.

  4. Run a couple wet barrel cleaning pads with CLP through the barrel. This makes sure that any metal shavings left in the barrel are removed.

  5. Run dry cleaning pads through the barrel to remove the CLP.

  6. Complete rifle functions check and pre-firing is done.

Be sure to check back for future modifications coming and progress.
